| Cave Description |
Cenote Cristal (Naharon) is known as the "dark" cave, Tannic
acid intrudes into water from a huge swamp located 8 kilometers
further west into the jungle, This tannic acid over geological time
stains the calcium carbonate into a very dark brown color, Very highly
decorated but with the darkness, lights are absorbed, Would be
considered one the "best" caves to dive if it were not for everything
being stained, Saltwater areas not affected with limestone bleached by
the saltwater
Cenote Escondido (Mayan Blue) has both impressive fresh and
Saltwater passage ways, Freshwater areas are very brown in color
while the saltwaters areas are bleached white
